Made during the Edo period (1700–1720), this Ko-Imari plate features an opulent gold karakusa pattern set against a red ground, with a dynamic, powerfully rendered dragon and tortoise motif in sometsuke blue-and-white at the center. The base bears the mark "Taimin Kasei Nensei," reflecting the influence of traditional Chinese culture while highlighting a distinctly Japanese aesthetic sensibility.
