Onkochishin, meaning “learning from the past to create the new,” is a Nishijin-ori work that brings together motifs passed down through different periods of Japanese history.
Inspired by Shōsōin textiles, Tsujigahana motifs, the decorative elements of Nikkō Tōshō-gū, gagaku instruments, Noh costumes, and kazura obi, the work brings together a rich variety of motifs from Japan’s traditional culture through intricate weaving.
