As with all Nikon F2 bodies, the system is fully modular — allowing the viewfinder to be swapped for alternatives such as the Photomic or High-Speed finders. However, the DE-1 Eye-Level Finder is the lightest and most compact in the lineup, enhancing balance, portability, and aesthetic appeal. The F2 body itself uses a vertically-traveling metal focal-plane shutter, completely mechanical and capable of operating without batteries.
