京都の伝統工芸、西陣織。その源流は1000年以上前にまでさかのぼり、現在も高度な技術と豊かな表現力によって受け継がれています。

織匠平居は、明治初期に創業し、五代にわたり西陣織の技を受け継いできた京都の織元です。現在は五代目の平居幹央氏が工房を率い、西陣織の伝統工芸士として、主に仏教僧侶が身につける袈裟に用いられる金襴を手がけています。

織匠平居では、昔ながらの手機（てばた）を用いた手織りを続けてきました。時間をかけて丁寧に織り上げられる生地には、機械では生み出すことのできない繊細な質感と、深みのある美しさが際立ちます。

The roots of Nishijin-ori, one of Kyoto’s traditional crafts, can be traced back over 1,000 years. Today, it continues to be passed down through generations with a high level of technical skill and rich artistic expression.

Orisho Hirai is a Kyoto-based textile workshop founded in the early Meiji period. For five generations, the workshop has carried on the traditions of Nishijin-ori. Today, the workshop is led by its fifth-generation head, Mikio Hirai, a certified Traditional Craftsman in Nishijin-ori. He specializes primarily in kinran, a luxurious brocade traditionally used for the ceremonial robes of Buddhist monks.

At Orisho Hirai, traditional handweaving techniques using the time-honored tebata loom have been preserved and practiced for generations. Woven slowly and carefully, each textile possesses a delicate texture and depth of beauty that cannot be achieved through machine production.
